Abstract

The objective of the article is to carry out a comparative analysis of the efficiency of health spending in the entities of the Mexican Republic during the period 2000-2016. For this purpose, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology is implemented, developing a non-oriented model, where global technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency are calculated. Additionally, benchmarking and slacks analysis are incorporated. libe results show that in the VRS model with bootstrap, the states of Nuevo León (0.9903), Chihuahua (0.9869) and Coahuila (0.9864) were the ones that had the highest averages of efficiency, without being efficient. While on the opposite side, there are Chiapas (0.9134), Colima (0.9158) and the state of Hidalgo (0.9161) with the lowest averages of efficiency in the study period.
