Eficiencia en la producción de granos básico de México y las economías del APEC: Un Análisis Envolvente de Datos
Keywords:
Eficiencia, DEA, AgriculturaAbstract
The objective of this article is to analyze the efficiency of rice, bean, corn, and wheat production in Mexico within the APEC region in order to make public policy recommendations to influence the sector. An output-oriented DEA model was developed considering VRE with data from 2022. The inputs used were the average weekly hours worked in the agricultural sector, the average amount of nitrogen per hectare, and the area devoted to each crop. The output considered was the average yield per hectare. The results show that Mexico is efficient in the cultivation of rice and wheat, but inefficient in the production of corn and beans. To be efficient in corn cultivation, Mexico should have a yield level of 7.77 tons/ha, and in the case of beans, it should have an average yield of 2.14 tons/ha.
