The economies of Latin America, as part of the capitalist system, have experienced a deformed process of capital accumulation (Coraggio, 2018: 5).
This panorama has allowed the Social Economy to acquire greater importance in Mexico, as an alternative for entrepreneurship and economic development (Diez de Sollano, 2016: 25).
Currently, development is not conceived without science, technology and linkage as strategic elements; for which Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are used, given the need to transfer knowledge (Pérez and Núñez, 2014: 2) to the productive, economic and social sector (Friedman and Silberman, 2003: 17).
Given the above, it is necessary for HEIs to bet on the generation of actions according to the design of projects and enterprises with social impact and benefits for the communities (Hernández, 2015: 29) and in this way promote economic development and social welfare.
