Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published or considered by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in comments to the editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text has single line spacing; 12 point font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); and all figures and tables are placed at the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.
  • The authors assume full responsibility for the bibliographic citations used, as well as for the ethical aspects related to the study subjects.
  • It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that they do not engage in practices of plagiarism before submitting their work for opinion, therefore, it is required that their work be original.

Author Guidelines

Research articles must adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. The recommended extension of the works is 20 (twenty) pages maximum, including notes, graphic information and bibliographic reference of 65 characters by 20 lines, single spaced. Tables, graphs and figures must be numbered and integrated into the corresponding text.
  2. Papers must be submitted in the following format:
    1. Margins: upper 2 cm, lower 4.25 cm, left 4.25 cm, right 4.25 cm.
    2. Pagination: bottom right
    3. Microsoft Word 7.0 format. for Windows
    4. Text font size: Times New Roman 10
    5. Title font size: Times New Roman 12 (Capital letters and bold).
    6. Subtitle font size: Times New Roman 10 (Bold).
    7. Line spacing between the lines of the text of 1.0
    8. Justified paragraphs of the text.

CONTENT STRUCTURE

On the first page of the collaboration sent to arbitration and later for its publication, it must contain:

Title of the work in Spanish and on a separate line, the version of the title in English.

  • Name(s) of the author(s)
  • Department, faculty, university or institution of belonging.
  • Email.
  • In addition, all contributions should be accompanied by a summary curriculum vitae, no longer than two pages, specifying:
    • The full name.
    • Academic degree obtained.
    • Institution to which it belongs.
    • Research areas.
    • Personal information.

The general organization in which collaborations should be drawn up should be as follows:

➢ Title. It should be brief and clear, reflecting the content of the work. Not to exceed 20 words, written in Spanish and on a separate line, the version of the title in English.

➢Author(s). The names of the authors, institution of work of the author(s) of the article should be included, adding at the bottom of the page for each one their affiliation (department, dependence and Institution) and e-mail.

➢ Abstract in Spanish. It should be a single paragraph that summarizes the purpose of the work and gathers the main contributions of the article in a maximum of 150 words, without subdivisions and bibliographic citations. This section should begin with the word RESUMEN in the left margin, in bold letters and without a period. All manuscripts must include an English version of the abstract. It will indicate the justification and importance of the work, the methodology and the most important conclusions.

➢Abstract. Likewise, this should be no longer than 150 words and should contain the same information as the abstract in Spanish.

➢ Keywords. A minimum of three and a maximum of five keywords should be selected in alphabetical order that indicate the main topics covered.

➢ Keywords. As in the previous section, a minimum of three and a maximum of six keywords must be provided in alphabetical order that indicate the main topics covered.

➢ JEL (Journal of Economic Literature) classification codes. These may be consulted on the electronic page of the INCEPTUM Journal's: http://inceptum.umich.mx/index.php/inceptum/index, or where appropriate, at the following electronic address: http://www.aeaweb.org/journal/jel_class_system.html.

➢ Introduction. Point out what the complete work consists of, objectives, background, current state of the problem and hypothesis.

➢ Materials and Methods. Describe in precise form the procedure carried out to verify the hypothesis and the resources used in it.

➢ Results. Describe the results of the investigation. Measurement or quantification data may be presented.

➢ Discussion. Present the interpretation of the results in accordance with similar studies, i.e., correlating the study with others conducted, stating its advantages and contributions, avoiding adjectives of praise. 

➢ Conclusions. Conclusions. Specify what results were obtained and whether they allowed verification of the hypothesis; likewise, state perspectives of the study and its application.

➢ Literature cited. All references in the text should appear in this section and vice versa. 

TABLES, FIGURES AND GRAPHS

1. The tables, graphs and figures must indicate the units of measurement, base year and clarify whether it is percentage variations or absolute terms and the item. For their enumeration, the Arabic system will be used (Table 1, 2, 3, etc.) and the bibliographic source must be mentioned. They must additionally be presented both in color and black and white.

2. Tables, figures and graphs must be included in a numbered manner within the text in the place where the author wishes them to appear. It is possible that in the final edition the tables, figures and graphs will be moved from place. The tables must be prepared in Word format. Figures and graphs must be high resolution and included as Word images (never as bitmaps). They must not contain the title within them and if they include text, it must be in Arial font. Tables, figures and graphs must include the title and the source.

SYMBOLS AND EQUATIONS

Mathematical symbols and equations should be presented clearly. Complex equations should be included as Word Equation Editor objects.

NOTES AND CITATIONS

Footnotes will be presented at the corresponding footnote and with continuous numbering, must be accompanied by their respective bibliographic citation and must be inserted in Times New Roman size 9.

REFERENCES

  1. Bibliographical references within the text will follow the APA system (latest edition). The bibliographical references at the end of the work must include:
    • Author 's name.
    • Year of publication.
    • Title of the work (book or journal).
    • Journal number and number of pages containing the article.
    • Publisher and place of publication.
    • In the case of books, the following example of the corresponding bibliographic citation is attached: Calva. Jose Luis. The dispute over land. The reform to article 27 and the new agrarian law, Mexico, Fontamara, 1993.
    • In the case of articles that appear in periodical publications, the following example of the corresponding bibliographic citation is attached:

Castaings Theillery, Juan, "So we go, are wages inflationary?" El Financiero, February 8, 2008: p.23.

    • In the case of information obtained from Internet sources, it must be presented in a separate section with the title Dictiotopography. See the following examples: AUTHOR(S) beginning with the last name and initials of the name in capital letters, title, journal (in italics). Volume, number, pages consulted. From: URL of the digital version, date of consultation. AUTHOR(S) beginning with the surname and initials of the name in capital letters, title, portal. From: URL, date of consultation
    • In the case of information obtained from institutional sources, the following example of the corresponding bibliographic citation is attached:

Support and Services for Agricultural Marketing (ASERCA), "International Situation and Perspectives of the Corn Market" Mexico, 2007.

2. For the first time they are used, the complete equivalence of the acronyms used in the text, in the bibliographical references, in the tables, graphs and figures must be specified.

3. In the case of bibliographic sources from Internet pages, the electronic address of the complete source must be specified, including the exact date of the reference query.

4. If applicable, an additional file containing the Excel spreadsheet files with the databases used to carry out the statistical, econometric or any other type of calculations and analyses, must be included.

All those contributions that do not comply with the guidelines established in this Authors Guide will be procedurally not accepted and there will be no responsibility for the Editorial Board of INCEPTUM magazine for unsolicited collaborations and/or from unidentifiable anonymous sources.
